You may have heard that Feedburner's follow by email function is going to be discontinued next month. At first I was in panic mode, but soon found there were easy solutions to the problem. Thankfully! So, I decided to switch over to follow.it which is a free email subscription service. If you were already subscribed via Feedburner's service, you won't have to worry about missing any email updates from this blog. New visitors can now subscribe via email at any time so you won't miss any of my future posts. Sci-Fi Summer Readathon - Mid-Event Check-In

This is a readathon participant only giveaway. To be eligible, you must have signed up, participated and added a link to the official readathon wrap-up post at the end of the readathon (I will give everyone until Monday, July 5th at 11:59 pm EST to complete their wrap-ups). We no longer use a linky for wrap-ups. The Google form on our wrap-up post is where you will enter your info, your wrap-up link, and answer yes/no on whether you want to win a prize or not. I will choose the winner of the above prize by random selection using random.org Winners will be chosen after the wrap-up post deadline (see above).

Sci-Fi Summer Readathon - Make it so! #SciFiJune

Time for a fun month of science fiction reading (or fantasy, if that's your poison)! Once again, I will be attempting to read Dune. 

Don't forget that you can participate even if you don't have a blog. Just link up with your Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (and just post your updates from whichever venue you choose) AND don't forget to interact with us in our groups on Facebook and Goodreads, Facebook Page, and we're on Instagram! If you have any questions about updates, etc., feel free to ask. I will be posting a mid-event check-in here, and I will do my best to interact across social media.

Check out our group on Slack. I did not receive any prize donations this time, but I will be offering a small book prize, in addition to the charity prize (details below). I will not do a prize page this time. I will list my book prize on the mid-event check-in page. 

My charity donation prize will be awarded at the beginning of the readathon. How that will work is anyone who signs up in the linky AND leaves a comment on the STARTING LINE post (post will be live at midnight on June 1st) will be entered in the draw for the charity prize. You must include your email address in your comment, or send it to me via the contact form (link in sidebar). Be sure to follow the directions, as I will draw the winner this Saturday.

Prize details are....

I will make a $15 donation to the winner's choice of a social justice organization, such as the ACLU, Boys and Girls Club, Human Rights Campaign, GLAAD, Amnesty International, It Gets Better, Planned Parenthood, or another social justice organization of your choice (food banks, homeless shelters, animal rights/rescue/shelters would also apply), perhaps your local chapter or a local organization. This giveaway is open internationally. Note: I will not donate to any organization that does not believe all are equal, regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation.

I hope you will consider having your donation made to one of these organizations fighting on the front lines of the Black Lives Matter movement (click each link to learn more). Another great cause would be an indigenous persons charity. Here are some ideas.

Sci-Fi Summer Readathon - Sign up! #SciFiJune

As always, a shout out to the person who originally inspired this event...Mallory (The Haunted Reading Room). Year six! Time flies...at warp speed. I look forward to this every year. I don't read enough science fiction so this helps me broaden my horizons. It might be the same for you. 👽

Details:

• As with all our readathons, Sci-Fi Summer is also a month long readathon! June 1st at 12:00 am EDT to June 30th 11:59 pm EDT (adjust your time zone accordingly...there's a time zone converter in the sidebar menu).
• Since science fiction is a very specific genre, this will be strictly reading science fiction during the event. However, since fantasy is so closely related to the genre (often grouped together), if you feel more comfortable reading fantasy, that is also fine.
• to check in on social media, our new hashtag is #SciFiJune
• as usual, you do not have to have a blog to participate...feel free to link up and check in from Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Also, we have our Facebook group, our Facebook page, our Goodreads group, and we're on Instagram. 
• Check out our group on Slack. Spring into Horror Readathon - Wrapping it up #SpringHorror

Another readathon comes to an end. How did it go? I didn't get much reading done, but I did read a really good scary one. I highly recommend it...Cradle Lake by Ronald Malfi.
