2025 FrightFall Readathon - Mid-Event Check-In

How is the scary reading going? I haven't read as much as I planned, but Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon is this weekend and it's my birthday weekend (today is my birthday🎂🎉) so I'm planning on reading all weekend. Hoping to get a lot of great horror read by the end of the month (like I don't read horror year-round anyway. lol).

So, how is the scary reading going? I'm pretty happy with what I've read so far, and looking forward to more before the end of the month. Also, Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon is next Saturday, April 26. Two 24-Hour events in one month...I'll take it!

2023 FrightFall Readathon - Mid-Event Check-In

A day past mid-event...my birthday was yesterday so I had no time to post this.

In case you missed the posts in the Facebook group/Goodreads group, or the Instagram story, I messed up with the charity giveaway. I did not set the form to "Accepting Responses." Sorry about that. This is a readathon participant only giveaway. To be eligible, you must have signed up, participated and added a link to the official readathon wrap-up post at the end of the readathon (I will give everyone until Monday, November 6th at 11:59 pm EST to complete their wrap-ups). We no longer use a linky for wrap-ups. The Google form link on our wrap-up post is where you will enter your info, your wrap-up link, and answer yes/no on whether you want to win a prize or not. I will choose the winner of the above prize by random selection using random.org Winner will be chosen after the wrap-up post deadline (see above).

The Something Wicked Fall read-along of Stephen King's If It Bleeds is still going on. I'll try to have Discussion Three on the third novella in the collection (If It Bleeds) sometime today. That will be posted over at Castle Macabre. 

This Saturday (10/21) is Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon. There is no official sign-up on their website yet, but they have been posting information in their Facebook group and the Goodreads group. Are you planning to participate? I am, and I'm hoping to do some good scary reading ALL day.

I'm enjoying our Something Wicked Fall read-along of The Devil in Silver by Victor LaValle. I'll be posting Discussion Three soon (by Tuesday morning) over at Castle Macabre.

I'm also reading Stephen King's If It Bleeds. I finished the first novella in the collection, Mr. Harrigan's Phone, and will be watching the movie on Netflix.

Saturday is Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon (sign up here, if you haven't already) and I'm hoping to get a big chunk of my scary reading done during the event. Let me know if you'll be joining in as well.

#FrightFall Readathon - Check-in and Dewey's 24 Hour #Readathon #SomethingWickedFall

I have to apologize. lovely readers. I have been quite neglectful with updating and checking in during this readathon. I didn't even post a mid-event check-in! Egads! As you know, I moved house in August (from Tennessee to Michigan) and I'm STILL unpacking and shelving books. I still have a lot to do, but things are finally starting to shape up. So, at least I know I will have my house ready for the holidays. Anyway, I'm sorry! 

I also have not been getting much reading done (pout) and the Woman in White read-along is not going so well either. I'm hoping Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon will help me remedy that. Anyone else participating in this cherished biannual event?

And away we go! One of my most favorite times of year and, as usual, I'm ready. How about you? Lots of scary lined up again this year.

Once again, this year FrightFall is part of Something Wicked Fall at Castle Macabre. We're in the middle of a read-along of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep, we've been reading Gothic stories/books in September, and we had a watch-along of The Shining Saturday night. Our read-along continues this month, we're transitioning over to horror stories, and our next watch-along will be of the movie Midsommar on October 19. We're still working out the time. Spring into Horror #Readathon - Green light for a month of #Horror #SpringHorror

It's here! I'm so excited! How about you?

The rest of the month? Keep reading scary if you want, or read whichever genre you choose. Also, Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon is coming up this Saturday, April 6th. I'm trying to clear my schedule as much as possible, but I simply must go see Pet Sematary on Saturday!

I'm still working on prizes. Erin Al-Mehairi, who always gives us some awesome horror book prizes, will be offering a bunch for the giveaway AND she will be offering a free book for everyone interested early in the readathon. Stay tuned for details on what the title will be. I'll post about it in the Facebook group, on Instagram and in the Goodreads group.

High Summer #Readathon - Mid Event Check-in #HSreadathon

I'm a few days late with this check-in post. Sorry! My month has not gone as planned, and my summer is pretty much over now that my younger (15 year old) son has a job and my older son has football practice every day. I'm now a glorified taxi driver and school hasn't even started yet. Not long to go though. They go back August 7th.

How is your reading going? I hope you're picking up some books that you're really enjoying. Seems like there are a lot of  other exciting readathons going on this month too. There's the 24in48 Readathon this weekend, July 21 and 22. Then there's the Dewey's 24 Hour Reverse Summer Readathon starting Friday, July 27 at 8 pm ET and ending Saturday, July 28 at 8 pm ET. Fun! Will you be joining in on either of these?

Don't forget about our Christmas in July Readathon at the end of High Summer, during the last four days (Saturday thru Tuesday, July 28-31). Just a reminder...you do not have to participate if you're not IN to Christmas, but if you are, this is for you.

Spring into Horror #Readathon - Mid-event Checkin #SpringHorror

I can't believe it has been a week already. My reading has been less than stellar (If you're in our Facebook group, you'll know why). I intend to rock it this week and finish strong with Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon.

How's it going? I hope everyone is getting lots of reading done and enjoying the new longer format. I know I am because I know I have another week to dig in and reach my goals. I apologize for not visiting blog posts yet, but I will stop by and check out how things are going. Of course, many are updating in the FB group so I have been keeping up there.

Spring into Horror Read-a-Thon: Mid-Week Check-in #SpringHorrorRAT

Hi everyone! So, how's the reading going? I have really been enjoying actually having time to participate AND interact this time! No crazy illness or other catastrophe interfering this time, as has been the theme during my last few read-a-thons. *knock wood* 

We are at mid-week and we're just a couple days away from Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon. Who else will be joining in on the 24 hour shenanigans? I am, although I doubt I'll be reading the entire day. Promised my sons we would go see The Jungle Book on Saturday. If you're participating on Saturday, let's keep the interaction going in the group on Facebook. I think that would be fun! By the way, I'm loving the enthusiasm and interaction I'm seeing over there this time. Our Facebook group has been such a success!
