FrightFall Readathon - Mid-Event Check-In

A few days past mid-event. I've been on vacation in Salem, Massachusetts (and Fall River and Sleepy Hollow, NY). Just got home on Monday. The perfect trip for the spooky season, and my birthday was on Friday. A special birthday indeed. If you would like to see photos I took on the trip, visit my Salem (etc.) album here.

So, how is it going with the reading? Let me know your progress, or leave a link, in the comments.

If anyone wants to chat in real time, remember we now have a Discord here. If you haven't joined yet, you can join via the link above as well.

We have some great prizes this time around. Take a look at the prize page here.

Enjoy the rest of the readathon!

This is the giveaway/prize promotion page for the prizes being given away for readathon participants. At the end of this post, you will find details regarding how the prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the readathon.

Note: The author of the book donated would greatly appreciate a review, if you win, on your blog and/or social media and/or on Goodreads, Amazon. Thank you! (This is not required to win.)

The winner of the charity giveaway was Elyse. Her charity choice was The Trevor Project. Congrats!

WINNER - MALLORY
In-Ko-Pah Spirit by Wally Runnels
One winner (Kindle or Print - US or Kindle only - International)

The border. Ancient beings. Shape shifters. Impossible? Think again.
There’s an ominous presence that inhabits the In-Ko-Pahs.
Wally Runnels, Twisted Love, The In-Ko-Pah Spirit, and coming soon, The Bone People.

Other books by Wally Runnels on Amazon

Wally Runnels was born in San Diego, raised along the border at his family's ranch (whose original deed was recorded in 1870), and has traveled extensively through Mexico and Latin America. Hanging out on the border between two countries, he's met a lot of unusual people: Hollywood types, Border Patrol Officers, smugglers, professional trackers, and people he won't mention by name.

He'll remind you that no matter how weird a story can get, it'll contain some grain of truth.

Giveaway Details
This is a readathon participant only giveaway. To be eligible, you must have signed up, participated and added a link to the official readathon wrap-up post (I will give everyone until Friday, November 5th at 11:59 pm EDT to complete their wrap-ups). We no longer use a linky for wrap-ups. There will be a Google form on the readathon wrap-up post where you will enter your info, your wrap-up link, and answer yes/no on whether you want to win a prize or not. We have a total of 5 prizes. This means there will be 5 winners. I will award prizes on a first come, first served basis. I will draw the 5 winners with random.org and email all 5 at the same time. The first person who emails me back with their choice gets that prize. I will mark off the prizes as they are taken. Winners will be chosen after the wrap-up post deadline (see above).

FrightFall Readathon - Let's Do This!

It's time! And once again, the readathon is part of Something Wicked Fall at Castle Macabre. We are doing a read-along of The Blood Countess by Andrei Codrescu (we're not that far in, if you want to join us). Not sure at this point about horror movie watch-alongs. I tried to host one this past weekend (Bram Stoker's Dracula), but no one could make it. I'll be in Salem, Massachusetts October 11 - 16 so I'm not going to have a ton of time this month. We'll have to play it by ear. If we do have one, we will chat in our new Discord server (see below).

Remember, the one main "rule" of FrightFall is that you must read ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). The rest of the month? Keep reading scary if you want, or read whichever genre you choose.

I did receive a prize donation from a regular author contributor (thank you very much to him!). I will be offering my usual couple of prizes (see below to enter the charity donation prize). Plus, this year, I'll be giving away two horror novels. I will post the prize page by the end of the first week.

Don't forget that you can participate even if you don't have a blog. Just link up with your Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (and just post your updates from whichever venue you choose) AND don't forget our Facebook group, Facebook Page, our Goodreads group, and our Instagram. If you have any questions about updates, etc., feel free to ask. I will post a mid-event check in post mid-month so be sure to stop by and leave progress, or a link, in the comments.

Hashtag across all social media is #FrightFall Feel free to also use #Readathon and #SomethingWickedFall

The linky below is the same one as the sign up linky. If you do a starting line/goal post, just add your link again, but be sure to put "goal post" beside your name, i.e. Michelle/True Book Addict (goal post). Note: If you're just signing up, you can do it here on this post. It's the same linky.

Reminder:
I have created a Discord server for Seasons of Reading...sort of an experiment away from Slack, which I feel is too business-y for our purposes. You can pop in and chat during our events at any time, or even outside of events. We will also chat there during our horror movie watch-alongs (as mentioned above). We will not be doing live chats, just typing in the text channels. I will create a FrightFall channel as well. Here's the invite link: https://discord.gg/84NBfXUpyB

Win a $15 donation to a social justice charity of your choice!

I will make a $15 donation to the winner's choice of a social justice organization, such as the ACLU, Boys and Girls Club, Human Rights Campaign, GLAAD, Amnesty International, It Gets Better, The Trevor Project, Planned Parenthood, or another social justice organization of your choice (food banks, homeless shelters, animal rights/rescue/shelters would also apply), perhaps your local chapter or a local organization. This giveaway is open internationally. Note: I will not donate to any organization that does not believe all are equal, regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation.

Charity giveaway (Google form): https://forms.gle/iUzKME1o38aM2UoWA

(I will draw the winner at the end of the first week)
