I've already started planning for Something Wicked Fall and the FrightFall Readathon! During FrightFall in October, I'm trying to decide on the 24-Hour readathon portion of the event. You'll be happy to know...I keep telling myself, "Get it together, Michelle!" So hopefully, these late signups will not continue. I apologize. This summer is quickly becoming in need of an escape hatch. I didn't have extreme heat and hazardous air pollution on my BINGO card. Yikes! I'm really hoping to catch up on some reading during this readathon. How about you?

2026 Sci-Fi Summer - Wrap-Up

Another Sci-Fi Summer comes to an end. I hope you were able to get some good reading in this round. Unfortunately, I did not finish any of my books, but still plan to. Reading slump continues...go me! Oops, I forgot I did finish Remote Control, which I listened to on audio.

Sci-Fi Summer 2026 - Mid-Event Check-In

We're midway through! I hope your reading is going well. I managed to finish Freezing Point and Remote Control (audio) and started Fire & Blood over the weekend. My slump is improving!

Our Junteenth three day readathon starts this Friday at 12:00 am eastern through the end of Sunday. I hope you will join us. If you feel so inclined to read books by black sci-fi or fantasy authors over the weekend, here is a Goodreads list of books. I'm planning to read Dawn by Octavia Butler. There will be a post here the day before the event starts.

Since we can't have a second Halloween, we get to have Spring into Horror! I love this event, second only to FrightFall. Plus, April 30 is halfway to Halloween!

2025 Yuletide Spirit Reading Challenge and Readathon

Here we are at the holiday season again! I apologize for being so late! It's finally time to sign up for the Yuletide Spirit Reading Challenge and Readathon co-event!

Dates: Monday, November 24 through Wednesday, December 31

Three ways to participate:

1. Challenge - Pick a level
2. Readathon - read as much (or as little) as you want
3. Participate in both!

We're also having a 24 in 48 hours Readathon the weekend of December 26 - 28. We start at 8:00 pm eastern time on Friday and it ends at 8:00 pm eastern time on Sunday. The idea is the try to read for 24 hours during that 48 hour period, but there are no rules. Read as much or as little as you want. It's all for fun. I thought the weekend after Christmas would be the perfect time, since the week between Christmas and the new year always seems like a weird limbo period. What better time? A nice relaxing weekend of reading. I'm all for it!

Regarding the reading of Christmas books, for the readathon, you do not have to read only Christmas books. I am always reading regular genres along with Christmas books during the season. Please do try to read at least one though.

For the reading challenge, these must be Christmas novels, books about Christmas lore, a book of Christmas short stories or poems, books about Christmas crafts, children's books (we even have a level for them!), etc.

Reading Challenge Levels:
--Candy Cane: read 1 book
--Mistletoe: read 2-4 books
--Christmas Tree: read 5 or 6 books, or more (this is the fanatic level!)

Additional levels:

--Fa La La La Films: watch a bunch or a few Christmas movies...it's up to you!
--Visions of Sugar Plums: read books with your children this season and share what you read

*the additional levels are optional, you still must complete one of the main reading levels above

Important!

I would appreciate it if you would let me know in the comments if you would still like a place to link reviews for the reading challenge. I have discontinued prizes for financial reasons, so reviews are no longer a factor like they were for the giveaway, but if you would still like to link them up, I will add a linky to the review page (at Mystical Lantern) for this year's reviews. Again, just let me know in the comments. Thanks!

In case you missed it, I recently posted the Save the Date for Something Wicked Fall which starts in September, and the graphic for FrightFall in October is also in the post here. You may notice that our 24-Hour Readathon during FrightFall will be an Opposite Readathon (starting Saturday night at 8:00 pm Eastern and ending Sunday night at 8:00 pm Eastern). Same concept as Dewey's Reverse 24-Hour Readathon. I just didn't want to steal their terminology. Going forward, a few times per year, our 24-Hour events will be Opposite Readathons (unless enough people weigh in that they prefer the Opposite timing...then we may do them all that way 😁).

2025 High Summer Readathon - Time to get started!

Let's escape the heat and do some reading in the air conditioning, or in some nice shade. What better way to escape the heat?!

If you do a starting line/goal post, just add your link again, but be sure to put "goal post" beside your name, i.e. Michelle @ True Book Addict (goals or goal post).

Giveaways are suspended for now due to financial reasons (though I may bring them back in the future).
There will no longer be a wrap-up deadline since prizes are eliminated...meaning wrap-ups are optional, but it's always nice to see what everyone read.

2025 High Summer Readathon - Sign up!

Time for some reading during the dog days of summer. It has already been pretty hot this year for Michigan. I'm really hoping it doesn't get any hotter, but you know how July/August can be. I'm up for reading comfortably in the air conditioning and staying hydrated. How about you?

We start at 12:00 am eastern time on August 1st and end at 11:59 pm eastern time on August 31st. (There is a handy link to a time zone converter in the sidebar menu.) Guidelines for the readathon can be found HERE or you can access in the sidebar menu. Any information you need about our readathons can be found there.
