2026 FrightFall Readathon - Wrap-Up

October is over and boy, did it go by fast! How did your scary reading go? I didn't get as much reading in as I planned. My friend mentioned October Slide (yes, it's a thing), and that definitely affected me. I hope everyone had a very happy Halloween, and thanks for joining me for another readathon!

The linky at the bottom of the post is the same one we've been using for this readathon. You can link to your wrap-up there, or leave a link (or summary) in the comments. Completely up to you, but I do try to get around to see what books everyone read.

Next up we have the Yuletide Spirit Reading Challenge and Readathon which kicks off Thanksgiving week (U.S.) on Monday, November 23rd. Full details and sign-up coming soon.

2026 FrightFall Readathon - Our 24-in-60 readathon starts tomorrow morning!

Let's get ready to read some scary this weekend! I tanked Dewey's 24-Hour readathon so I really want to focus this weekend. I hope I can. It has been a busy Halloween season for me. Honestly, nothing slows down until after the first of the year. I'm sure many of you can relate.

We start at 8:00 am eastern time tomorrow and the event runs through 8:00 pm eastern on Sunday night. Find out what time that is in your time zone by using the time zone converter in the sidebar menu (just click the link).

I'll be updating and checking in on our Discord (probably the Goodreads group as well). If you haven't joined, just visit this invite link: https://discord.gg/e6uAmXtGqA

If you would rather not join us on Discord, feel free to post updates on Instagram, and/or in our Facebook group or Goodreads group. We also now have a group (book club) on StoryGraph. If you're on there, send me a follow request and I'll invite you to the group. My user name is truebookaddict. Here's the link to the group: https://tinyurl.com/seasonsreadingSG

Any questions? Leave a comment or contact me via the link in the menu.

I hope you will join us!

2026 FrightFall Readathon - Mid-Event Check-In

It's midway...a day late. I hope your reading is going well. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to do much reading. Hoping to catch-up the rest of the month. Dewey's 24-Hour is tomorrow...maybe that will help. Are you participating?

Don't forget about our 24-in-60 readathon next weekend. I'll have a reminder post up the day before.

Let me know your progress so far, or leave a link, in the comments.

2026 FrightFall Readathon - Happy October! FrightFall is in full swing!

I missed the kick-off at midnight so we are officially underway! Is everyone ready to read all the scary? I know I am!

If you have any questions about how things work, check out the guidelines in the sidebar menu or the sign up post, or you can always leave me a comment (or send me a message via the contact form). The linky below is the same one as the sign up linky. If you do a starting line/goal post, just add your link again, but be sure to put "goal post" beside your name, i.e. Michelle @ True Book Addict (goals or goal post).

Remember the one main "rule" of FrightFall is to read at least ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). I hope you will indulge the scary beyond the one book, but that is entirely up to you. It is all about the reading after all.

Some orders of business...
  • I had planned a 24-in-48 hours event for this readathon. I posted a poll in the Discord and the dates decided were October 23 - 25. However, I recently found out I have two things going on that weekend because...of course. So I decided to make it a 24-in-60 event. We will start on Friday, October 23 at 8:00 am and end on Sunday, October 25 at 8:00 pm, all times are eastern. I will be doing most of my updates and check-ins on Discord (invite link to our Discord). Discord is free to join and it would be cool to have some lively chats over there. There will be a post here the day before the 24-in-60 event starts.

  • I will post a mid-event check-in here on the blog.

Don't forget about Something Wicked Fall over at Castle Macabre. We are doing a read-along of Last Days by Adam Nevill through the end of October. We started September 1st so there's still time to join in. The reading schedule is posted on the event post, linked above and below.

Get all the details for what's going on during Something Wicked Fall here.

Enjoy your scary reading!

It's almost time for FrightFall! My apologies for the late sign-up post. I'm so ready for all the scary this fall. How about you?

2026 High Summer - Wrap-up

Our last summer readathon has come to a close, and fall is just around the corner. I can already smell it in the air! I hope you enjoyed the readathon and got in lots of good reading. I do want to apologize for not posting a mid-event check-in. With our 24-Hour readathon going on that weekend, I completely forgot.

The linky at the bottom of the post is the same one we've been using for this readathon. You can link to your wrap-up there, or leave a link (or summary) in the comments. Completely up to you, but I do try to get around to see what books everyone read.

Today kicks off Something Wicked Fall at Castle Macabre! The event post will be up later today over at the Castle Macabre site with all the details. The highlights...a folk horror read-along of Adam Nevill's Last Days (AND it was recently announced that it's being adapted as a streaming series...exciting!), all kinds of horror reading and watching...movie and book reviews, and more! Of course, all this will go along nicely with FrightFall coming up in October. I'll have sign-up ready for that soon.

Thanks for joining us for another readathon!

Add your wrap-up link below. After your name, put wrap-up in parentheses beside your name. Example: Michelle (wrap-up).

2025 FrightFall Readathon - Mid-Event Check-In

How is the scary reading going? I haven't read as much as I planned, but Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon is this weekend and it's my birthday weekend (today is my birthday🎂🎉) so I'm planning on reading all weekend. Hoping to get a lot of great horror read by the end of the month (like I don't read horror year-round anyway. lol).

Let me know your progress, or leave a link, in the comments.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the readathon. Let me know if you plan to join in on Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon this Saturday.

I will be doing most of my updates and check-ins on Discord (invite link to our Discord). It's free to join and it would be cool to have some lively chats over there. There will be a post here when the 24-Hour event starts Full details about the 24-Hour event on the Guidelines page.

  • I will post a mid-event check-in here on the blog.

  • Grab the button and spread the word! There’s a grab code in the sidebar or download the image at the top of this post.

FrightFall
has officially been a part of Something Wicked Fall for seven years now. The event runs September/October over at my horror blog, Castle Macabre. We are doing a read-along of Stephen King's Fairy Tale through the end of October. We started September 1st so there's still time to join in. The reading schedule is posted on the event post, linked above and below. The first discussion post is up here (though you may want to wait until you read the first section due to spoilers).

Get all the details for what's going on during Something Wicked Fall here.

Any questions at all? Leave me a comment, or send me a message via the contact me link in the sidebar menu.

2023 FrightFall Readathon - It's over (until next year)

I hope everyone was able to get in some good scary reading. I didn't get in much unfortunately, but I enjoyed what I did read. I'm still reading though, since horror is my favorite genre. Thanks for joining us for another readathon!

To wrap up, go to the link for the wrap-up form at the end of this post and fill it out, including a link to your wrap-up (whether it's a blog post, a Goodreads shelf, social media status...anything goes, as long as I can see you did indeed participate). You will also indicate if you want a chance at a prize by selecting yes or no in the form. Be sure to double check that your name is listed in the sign up/starting line linky at this post so you will be eligible for the giveaway. You have until Monday, November 6th at 11:59 pm EST to fill out the form. I will email the winner within a few days following the deadline so keep a look out in your email inbox (or spam folder, just in case) for an email from my truebookaddict gmail account. The prize is listed here on the mid-event check-in page. The form is at the bottom of the post.

The 2023 Yuletide Spirit Reading Challenge & Readathon is coming up this month, November 20 through January 6 (2023), which is co-hosted here at Seasons of Reading and at my Christmas site, Yuletide Spirit. I hope you will join us! Stay tuned for details and sign-up. Check out the button...
