Important #Readathon News!

As some of you may already know (though many of you probably don't), I'm moving house in August. We live in Nashville, Tennessee (my mom, my sons, and I) and have wanted to move back to my hometown (Midland, Michigan) for a while now since my sister and her family still live up there. We planned to move after both boys were graduated, but my younger son (17) started home school last year so we decided to move sooner. Plus, my older son (who just graduated) is going to Central Michigan University in the fall.

I know, long story and you're probably asking...what does this have to do with Seasons of Reading?

Well, we have the High Summer Readathon coming up in August which, unfortunately, I'm going to have to cancel for this year. August is going to be our main packing and moving month. My mom retires on August 4th so we will need to finish packing up and be moved by the third week in August. We have to move Gabe into the dorms the week before classes start on August 31st. My August is going to be busy, busy, busy. I'll barely have time to think, let alone host a readathon. (Note: We usually have a small Christmas readathon during Christmas in July. I'm cancelling that for this year as well.)

I apologize, as I know many look forward to High Summer every year. So, to make up for it...drumroll please!!! This year's FrightFall Readathon will be two months, September AND October (coinciding with Something Wicked Fall at Castle Macabre)!!! Granted, I will be unpacking, etc. in September (and probably into October), but having a two month event will give me more time for my hosting duties, and reading. Well...what do you think? Does that make up for the loss of High Summer? I hope so. Of course, High Summer will be back in 2021 and we will make it a special one. I promise!

Thanks for understanding and wish us luck on our move. We're going to need it...

I have over 3000 books to pack so this will probably be me amidst the packing and moving. I do not doubt it.

  1. Real life does tend to get in the way! But that's an exciting and daunting move! Even if it's moving back somewhere. We will be okay! :)

Trying to host not one but two read-a-thons would be insane with all of that! We understand and look forward to the next one.
