2024 Sci-Fi Summer Readathon - Sign up!

Time for a month of science fiction...and fantasy! As always, a shout out to the person who originally inspired this event...Mallory (The Haunted Reading Room). It's our 9th year! I look forward to it every year. I don't read enough science fiction so this helps me broaden my horizons. It might be the same for you. 👽

We start at 12:00 am eastern time on June 1st and end at 11:59 pm eastern time on June 30th. (There is a handy link to a time zone converter in the sidebar menu.) Guidelines for the readathon can be found HERE or you can access in the sidebar menu. Any information you need about the readathon can be found there. Please do be sure to check the guidelines to make sure you're following along correctly. There are specific rules regarding sign up and wrap up, especially in regards to the giveaway.

Since science fiction is a very specific genre, this will be strictly reading science fiction during the event. However, since fantasy is so closely related to the genre (often grouped together), if you feel more comfortable reading fantasy, that is also fine.

Some orders of business...

• There is a giveaway during every readathon. I offer two prizes. The first prize is a $15 social justice charity donation ( I was doing this at the beginning of the event, but I have now moved it back to the end of the event). The second prize is a $5 Amazon eGift card. Both giveaways are open internationally (for the Amazon gift, wherever Amazon is available). There will be a form on the wrap-up post where you can select which giveaway (one or both) you would like to enter. Details on how the giveaway works are on the Guidelines page.
  
  
• New this year...we are now having one 24-Hour readathon during each month-long event. The Sci-Fi Summer 24-Hour event will be on Saturday, June 15th at 10:00 am EDT. I will be doing most of my updates and check-ins on Discord (invite link to our Discord). It's free to join and it would be cool to have some lively chats over there. There will be a post here when the 24-Hour event starts Full details about the 24-Hour event on the Guidelines page.

2024 Spring into Horror Readathon - Wrapping up

Another readathon at an end. They really do go by too fast.

I hope everyone enjoyed the readathon. Also, sending out a big thanks to those who joined in on the 24-Hour readathon this past weekend. Going forward, we are still going to do one 24-Hour readathon during each month long readathon. June's 24-Hour readathon during SciFi Summer will be on June 22nd at 10:00 am EDT.

Wrapping up

To wrap up, go to the link for the wrap-up and giveaway form at the end of this post and fill it out, including a link to your wrap-up (whether it's a blog post, a Goodreads shelf, social media status...anything goes, as long as I can see you did indeed participate). You will also indicate which prize(s) you would like a chance at winning in the form. Be sure to double check that your name is listed in the sign up/starting line linky at this post so you will be eligible for the giveaway. You have until Monday, May 6th at 11:59 pm EDT to fill out the form. I will email the winner within a few days following the deadline so keep a look out in your email inbox (or spam folder, just in case) for an email from my truebookaddict gmail account.
