About the owners

Nicole DiNatali & Ingrid Lundgren. We are two friends who share a passion for reading, game nights, dinner parties, and of course all things crafty! Ingrid, is the primary creator as she has a long seeded passion for making her own jewelry when she isn’t working her day job assisting special needs kids in the school system. Nicole is more of the administrator. She has a background in business and management. Nicole is an American who relocated to Sweden in 2008, while Ingrid has Viking blood coursing through her veins.

Why we started the business

“It all started with a gift from my husband” – Nicole. After a business trip to China, Nicole’s husband brought home a gift that left Nicole bewildered. At first she thought this contraption must be some kind of hairpin or something. Only later did her husband clarify it was a bookmark. Bang! Revolutionary!! After using many a random slips of paper as a bookmark (that inevitably went for a walkabout), she tried out her new gift. This bookmark didn’t budge! No matter what happened to the book, the bookmark held like the 300 at the Battle of Thermopolis. Being that Ingrid loves to make jewelry, and we both love to read, bookmark business idea was born. We decided this was a great opportunity to put our creative chops to test, and also introduce more people to our artistic and creative take on book jewelry, as we like to call it. But it doesn’t stop there! There are plans in the future to extend the inventory to more bookish accessories and sparkly items.

#FrightFall #Readathon - Starting line! #SomethingWickedFall

And away we go! One of my most favorite times of year and, as usual, I'm ready. How about you? Lots of scary lined up again this year.

Once again, this year FrightFall is part of Something Wicked Fall at Castle Macabre. We're in the middle of a read-along of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep, we've been reading Gothic stories/books in September, and we had a watch-along of The Shining Saturday night. Our read-along continues this month, we're transitioning over to horror stories, and our next watch-along will be of the movie Midsommar on October 19. We're still working out the time. To weigh in, comment on the post in our Facebook group, reply in the Goodreads group, or comment on my Tweet on Twitter (@truebookaddict). For all the details on Something Wicked Fall, stop by Castle Macabre here.

Also, looking forward to Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon coming up October 26. Anyone else?

Remember, the one main "rule" of FrightFall is that you must read ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). The rest of the month? Keep reading scary if you want, or read whichever genre you choose.

I did not get many prize donations this time. I did have a couple of prize offers, and I will be offering a couple of prizes myself, as always. Everyone here knows that we like to make this about the reading anyway. I'll have the prize page posted by the end of the first week. Of course, there's always a chance I might get more prize offers since it is a month long event. We shall see!

Don't forget that you can participate even if you don't have a blog. Just link up with your Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (and just post your updates from whichever venue you choose) AND don't forget our Facebook group, our Goodreads group, and our Instagram. If you have any questions about updates, etc., feel free to ask. I will post a mid-event check in post around the middle of the month so be sure to stop by and leave progress, or a link, in the comments.

Hashtag across all social media is #FrightFall Feel free to also use #SomethingWickedFall

The linky below is the same one as the sign up linky. If you do a starting line/goal post, just add your link again, but be sure to put "goal post" beside your name, i.e. Michelle/True Book Addict (goal post). Note: If you're just signing up, you can do it here on this post. It's the same linky.

#FrightFall #Readathon - Sign up! #SomethingWickedFall

Fall is here! Well, not officially, but only a little over a week to go. September 1st and I'm all like, "It's fall!" So, in just a few weeks...FrightFall! Woot!

We start at 12:00 am central time on October 1st and end at 11:59 pm central time on October 31st. (There is now a handy link to a time zone converter in the sidebar menu.) I hope you're ready to get your scary on! Guidelines for the readathon can be found HERE or you can access in the sidebar menu. Any information you need about the readathon can be found there. Please do be sure to check the guidelines to make sure you're following along correctly. There are specific rules regarding sign up and wrap up, especially in regards to the giveaway.

The one main "rule" of FrightFall is that you must read at least ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). Since we are doing a month long, I hope you will indulge the scary a bit more, but that is entirely up to you. It is all about the reading after all.

Reminder: I have eliminated the wrap-up linky and we are now just using the Google form for wrap-ups (since I require your wrap-up link there anyway). That way you don't have to do two steps at the end of the readathon. The wrap-up Google form will be on the wrap-up post instead of the prize page. I will have a yes/no so you can let me know if you're opting out of winning a prize. (If you want to visit people who participated, you can do so via the sign-up/starting line linky. I will have a link to it on the wrap-up post).

Our social media hashtag is #FrightFall We have our outstanding Facebook group, and don't forget our our Goodreads group and our Instagram. (There are also access tabs in the sidebar menu.)

Two orders of business...
  • I am looking for prize donations so if anyone would like to contribute, let me know.
  • Authors, this is a great way to promote your book! Contact me via the contact form in the menu. If you know of an author who might be interested, pass along a message. Thanks!

As of last year, FrightFall is officially a part of Something Wicked Fall, which runs September/October over at my horror blog, Castle Macabre. We are doing a read-along of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep through the end of October. We just started September 1st so there's still time to join in. We are also going to be having two or three movie watch-alongs. I'm thinking The Shining (suggested by one of our members) first, and Midsommar second. We will decide on the third in October. I will be creating a poll on SurveyMonkey soon to decide on dates/times.

Get all the details for what's going on during Something Wicked Fall here.

High Summer #Readathon - Wrap-Up #HSreadathon

Summer is almost over, and I'm actually glad. The heat has killed me this year! I'm SO ready for fall.

I hope everyone enjoyed High Summer and that you were able to get a lot of reading in. Thank you all so much for joining me for another readathon!

Remember, our process has changed for wrap-ups. No more linky for wrap-up posts. Fill out the form at the end of the post and indicate if you want a chance at a prize by selecting yes or no. Also, double check that your name is listed in the sign up/starting line linky at this post so you will be eligible for the giveaway. You have until Friday, September 6 at 11:59 pm CDT to fill out the form. I will email the winners within a few days following the deadline so keep a look out in your email inbox (or spam folder, just in case) for an email from my truebookaddict gmail account. (Prize page is here)

Today kicks off Something Wicked Fall! If you haven't seen my post at Castle Macabre, in the Facebook group, or on Instagram (I still have to post in our Goodreads group), you can read all the details here. The highlights...a read-along of Doctor Sleep, Gothic and horror reading, movie watch-alongs! Of course, all this will go along nicely with FrightFall coming up in October. High Summer #Readathon - Mid-Event Check-In #HSreadathon

This month is flying by! Can't believe it's mid-event already (a couple days past actually). The only good thing about time flying...this hot weather will be gone, we'll be heading into fall, and FrightFall will be here. Yay!

Share your progress in the comments, or post a link to an update post.

The prize page is live here. Thanks to the authors who generously donated.

Anyone else doing Bout of Books this week? I wasn't going to, but decided to after all. I signed up via Instagram @truebookaddict and I'll probably post on Facebook (probably also in the group).

Something Wicked Fall will also be going on in September and October over at Castle Macabre. I will be hosting a read-along of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep (the movie comes out in November. Squee!), among other things. Stay tuned for details.

#FrightFall #Readathon - Wrap up #SomethingWickedFall

Our scary month of reading is now officially over (although I never stop reading scary. lol). As always, it flew by!

I hope everyone enjoyed FrightFall and that you were able to get a lot of reading done. Even if you only got a little reading in, like me, it's still an accomplishment. So, pat yourselves on the back! Not sure what you thought about the pre and post 48 hour readathons, but I'm thinking to forego them next time. It was a bit more work for me. However, I think we will still have a 48 hour kickoff readathon for Castle Macabre's Something Wicked This Fall Comes every year (yes, I plan to continue that event yearly). I'm considering shortening the name to its hashtag incarnation: Something Wicked Fall. What do you think?

Remember, our process has changed for wrap-ups. No more linky for wrap-up posts. Fill out the form below and indicate if you want a chance at a prize by selecting yes or no. Also, double check that your name is listed in the sign up/starting line linky at this post so you will be eligible for the giveaway. You have until Monday, November 5 at 11:59 pm CDT to fill out the form. I will email the winners within a few days following the deadline so keep a look out in your email inbox (or spam folder, just in case) for an email from my truebookaddict gmail account. (Prize page is here)

Looking forward to Thanksgiving week (USA) when we have the Christmas Spirit Readathon for two weeks...November 19 through December 2. Sign ups will go up within the week so stay tuned.

If you write in addition to reading (and if just might be participating in NaNoWriMo), I'm hosting a two month long writeathon over at my writing blog. The event is Sit Down and Write 10. You can check out all the details here.

Once again, thank you for joining me and I hope to see you next time.

(If you would like others to visit your wrap-up post, please leave a comment below with the link to your wrap-up, or you can visit participants via the starting line post linky here.)

#FrightFall #Readathon - Mid-Event Check-In #SomethingWickedFall

A few days late with this check-in...sorry! My sister came into town last week for my big 5-0 birthday weekend (my birthday was Monday) so it was a whirlwind of getting ready for her to come, and then spending as much time visiting as possible. Of course, as luck would have it, I ended up coming down with some weird stomach thing while she was here. Still not back to 100 percent. Blah. Anyway, as you can imagine, my reading suffered, along with other obligations.

Updates:

The prize page is up HERE.

The second and third discussions for Something Wicked This Way Comes will be combined and posted this Sunday, October 21 at Castle Macabre.

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon is THIS weekend! Sign up here.

Something Wicked This Way Comes movie watch-along, October 27th at 9pm CT/10pm ET. We will interact while watching on the event page here.

Post-Readathon - October 31/November 1

So, how is your reading going? Feel free to add an update in the comments, or link to an update somewhere online. Hope this month of scary reading is really shaping up nicely for you all.

THEY’RE SMARTER

WINNERS - MALLORY,
Child Eater by Tiffany Higgins (writing as Tifanne Messer)  (1 2 print copies - US only)

Plagued by memories of an abnormal childhood, Tabitha devotes her life to chasing the thing that destroyed her life as she knew it. She takes on as many missing children cases as she can, hoping to reunite families so they won't have to suffer as she has. Her mother wants her to "meet a nice boy, settle down and raise a family." Tabitha scoffs at the mere idea. Five year old Alice White is missing. Her room was left in shambles. Nothing about this small town or its haunting woods is normal. Is the "Child Eater" real or merely a story told by parents to keep their children out of the woods. Alice's case strangely parallels the only other missing child case the town has ever reported, but that was thirty years ago. What could they possibly have in common? David Matherson is a local contractor. He just bought a house in town and he and his crew are fixing it up. He wasn't looking to get involved with a woman or with a missing child, but somehow he finds himself in the middle of the mix. Will Tabitha find Alice in time? Can she solve the mystery of the "Child Eater" and bring Alice back home where she belongs?

"I Love the Changing Seasons" won the KART Kids Book List Award for Creative Storytelling in 2013. She also authored two other picture books, an illustrated middle grade chapter book, and a mystery-thriller (under the pen name Tifanne Messer). Tiffany’s love of research and a quest for her own family history led her to her current novel, "Once Upon a Time in Iowa." The characters are based on her own ancestors, who settled in Calhoun township, Iowa in the 1860’s.
