#FrightFall #Readathon - Starting line! #SomethingWickedFall

And away we go! One of my most favorite times of year and, as usual, I'm ready. How about you? Lots of scary lined up again this year.

Once again, this year FrightFall is part of Something Wicked Fall at Castle Macabre. We're in the middle of a read-along of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep, we've been reading Gothic stories/books in September, and we had a watch-along of The Shining Saturday night. Our read-along continues this month, we're transitioning over to horror stories, and our next watch-along will be of the movie Midsommar on October 19. We're still working out the time. To weigh in, comment on the post in our Facebook group, reply in the Goodreads group, or comment on my Tweet on Twitter (@truebookaddict). For all the details on Something Wicked Fall, stop by Castle Macabre here.

Also, looking forward to Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon coming up October 26. Anyone else?

Remember, the one main "rule" of FrightFall is that you must read ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). The rest of the month? Keep reading scary if you want, or read whichever genre you choose.

I did not get many prize donations this time. I did have a couple of prize offers, and I will be offering a couple of prizes myself, as always. Everyone here knows that we like to make this about the reading anyway. I'll have the prize page posted by the end of the first week. Of course, there's always a chance I might get more prize offers since it is a month long event. We shall see!

Don't forget that you can participate even if you don't have a blog. Just link up with your Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (and just post your updates from whichever venue you choose) AND don't forget our Facebook group, our Goodreads group, and our Instagram. If you have any questions about updates, etc., feel free to ask. I will post a mid-event check in post around the middle of the month so be sure to stop by and leave progress, or a link, in the comments.

Hashtag across all social media is #FrightFall Feel free to also use #SomethingWickedFall

The linky below is the same one as the sign up linky. If you do a starting line/goal post, just add your link again, but be sure to put "goal post" beside your name, i.e. Michelle/True Book Addict (goal post). Note: If you're just signing up, you can do it here on this post. It's the same linky.

#FrightFall #Readathon - Sign up! #SomethingWickedFall

Fall is here! Well, not officially, but only a little over a week to go. September 1st and I'm all like, "It's fall!" So, in just a few weeks...FrightFall! Woot!

We start at 12:00 am central time on October 1st and end at 11:59 pm central time on October 31st. (There is now a handy link to a time zone converter in the sidebar menu.) I hope you're ready to get your scary on! Guidelines for the readathon can be found HERE or you can access in the sidebar menu. Any information you need about the readathon can be found there. Please do be sure to check the guidelines to make sure you're following along correctly. There are specific rules regarding sign up and wrap up, especially in regards to the giveaway.

The one main "rule" of FrightFall is that you must read at least ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). Since we are doing a month long, I hope you will indulge the scary a bit more, but that is entirely up to you. It is all about the reading after all.

Reminder: I have eliminated the wrap-up linky and we are now just using the Google form for wrap-ups (since I require your wrap-up link there anyway). That way you don't have to do two steps at the end of the readathon. The wrap-up Google form will be on the wrap-up post instead of the prize page. I will have a yes/no so you can let me know if you're opting out of winning a prize. (If you want to visit people who participated, you can do so via the sign-up/starting line linky. I will have a link to it on the wrap-up post).

Our social media hashtag is #FrightFall We have our outstanding Facebook group, and don't forget our our Goodreads group and our Instagram. (There are also access tabs in the sidebar menu.)

Two orders of business...
  • I am looking for prize donations so if anyone would like to contribute, let me know.
  • Authors, this is a great way to promote your book! Contact me via the contact form in the menu. If you know of an author who might be interested, pass along a message. Thanks!

As of last year, FrightFall is officially a part of Something Wicked Fall, which runs September/October over at my horror blog, Castle Macabre. We are doing a read-along of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep through the end of October. We just started September 1st so there's still time to join in. We are also going to be having two or three movie watch-alongs. I'm thinking The Shining (suggested by one of our members) first, and Midsommar second. We will decide on the third in October. I will be creating a poll on SurveyMonkey soon to decide on dates/times.

Get all the details for what's going on during Something Wicked Fall here.

It's just past midnight here in the central (U.S.) time zone and we are starting our 48 hour readathon. Are you in? You can join in at any time during the 48 hours this weekend. We will end at 11:59 pm CDT Sunday. Adjust the times according to your time zone (you can use the time zone converter link in the sidebar menu).

We're playing fast and loose with this one so no real rules, no prizes, no hoops to jump through. Read scary, or not. It's up to you. Just read and enjoy! Share with us on social media, your blog, Goodreads, etc. Don't forget about our Facebook group, our Goodreads group and our Instagram.

If you're wondering about Something Wicked This Fall Comes, hop over to Castle Macabre for all the details.

We're going to use the same linky that we used for sign ups so if you do a starting line post, include that with your name, like so...True Book Addict (starting line). We will also use this linky for wrap-ups so same as above...True Book Addict (wrap-up). Easy peasy!

Okay, that's it. Have fun...happy reading!

Upcoming Events

I have decided to make Seasons of Reading not only a read-a-thon blog, but also a blog to spread the word about events I'm hosting at my other blogs. Also, if you haven't noticed, there is a tab at the top for other read-a-thons around the blogosphere. I hope this blog will help bring more people to the joy of reading!

I'm hosting another write-a-thon! Sit Down and Write 4 starts on Monday. I'm hosting at my writing blog, Stories Inside. This write-a-thon is not only for people who are writing novels or short stories, but also for people who need to catch up on blog writing, etc. For all the details and to sign up, visit this POST at Stories Inside.

Over at Castle Macabre, I'm hosting two events this Fall. Gothic September, featuring a read-a-long of Robert Parry's Gothic historical novel, The Arrow Chest (about the book). In October, I'm once again hosting Season of the Witch. For all the details on both events, visit this POST at Castle Macabre.

I hope you will join me for one, or all, of these events!

On the reading challenge front, come check out my revamped fantasy challenge, The Fantasy Project: 101 Books in 10 Years. You can get the details and sign up at the dedicated blog. We also have a Goodreads group!

A little over a month to go for FrightFall! Can't wait! Sign ups coming soon!
