I've already started planning for Something Wicked Fall and the FrightFall Readathon! During FrightFall in October, I'm trying to decide on the 24-Hour readathon portion of the event. There is a poll live in our Discord if you want to weigh in (if you haven't already). Access the server via the Discord link above, or in the sidebar. It's an invite link, if you're not already a member. Be sure to get your vote in soon. The poll closes in two days.

2026 High Summer Readathon - Let's escape into some reading!

You'll be happy to know...I keep telling myself, "Get it together, Michelle!" So hopefully, these late signups will not continue. I apologize. This summer is quickly becoming in need of an escape hatch. I didn't have extreme heat and hazardous air pollution on my BINGO card. Yikes! I'm really hoping to catch up on some reading during this readathon. How about you?

2025 High Summer Readathon - Wrap-up

Did you enjoy the readathon? I hope you did, and that you got some great reading in. I'd like to thank you all for joining in, and also those who participated in the 24-hour Readathon.

We no longer have a wrap-up deadline since I have eliminated (perhaps temporarily) giveaways. The linky at the bottom of the post is the same one we've been using for this readathon. Today kicks off Something Wicked Fall! The event post is up at Castle Macabre with all the details here. In case you missed it, I recently posted the Save the Date for Something Wicked Fall which starts in September, and the graphic for FrightFall in October is also in the post here. You may notice that our 24-Hour Readathon during FrightFall will be an Opposite Readathon (starting Saturday night at 8:00 pm Eastern and ending Sunday night at 8:00 pm Eastern). Same concept as Dewey's Reverse 24-Hour Readathon. I just didn't want to steal their terminology. Going forward, a few times per year, our 24-Hour events will be Opposite Readathons (unless enough people weigh in that they prefer the Opposite timing...then we may do them all that way 😁).

2025 High Summer Readathon - Mid-Event Check-In

Hope you're getting in some good reading during these mega hot summer days (Northern hemisphere, that is). I haven't had much opportunity to read over the past two weeks. My sons came into town from Tennessee on the 2nd for a ten day visit. I hadn't seen them in person for over two years! We had a ton of fun and I was sad for them going back. It's hard living away from your kids. I struggle with it every day. Anyway, I'm back at reading...currently Mastodon by Steve Stred and Deerskin by Robin McKinley.

2023 High Summer Readathon - Now we start!

The heat is ON this year in parts of the U.S. Has me so thankful that I moved back to Michigan three years ago. Hopefully, this month of reading can be time to stay inside and read, luxuriating in the air conditioning. lol

Some orders of business...

Since Goodreads stopped the events feature, it has become a bit more difficult to spread the word, and to obtain prize donations. I would appreciate help in spreading the word. Also, if you know anyone (authors, etc.) who would like to donate a prize, have them message me via the contact form in the sidebar menu. Thank you!

Every readathon, I offer a charity donation prize (to a social justice charity) to one winner. This prize is awarded at the beginning of the readathon. Details on how it works are on the guidelines page. I will also be offering another small prize. Hopefully, I will get some prize donations (see above). If I do, I will post the prize page during the first week of the event.

High Summer Readathon - The End

I hope everyone enjoyed High Summer and that you were able to get a lot of reading in. Thank you all so much for joining me for another readathon!

To wrap up, go to the link for the wrap-up form at the end of this post and fill it out, including a link to your wrap-up (whether it's a blog post, a Goodreads shelf, social media status...anything goes, as long as I can see you did indeed participate). You will also indicate if you want a chance at a prize by selecting yes or no in the form. Be sure to double check that your name is listed in the sign up/starting line linky at this post so you will be eligible for the giveaway. You have until Monday, September 6 at 11:59 pm EDT to fill out the form. I will email the winner within a few days following the deadline so keep a look out in your email inbox (or spam folder, just in case) for an email from my truebookaddict gmail account.
