High Summer #Readathon - Wrap-Up #HSreadathon

Summer is almost over, and I'm actually glad. The heat has killed me this year! I'm SO ready for fall.

I hope everyone enjoyed High Summer and that you were able to get a lot of reading in. Thank you all so much for joining me for another readathon!

Remember, our process has changed for wrap-ups. No more linky for wrap-up posts. Fill out the form at the end of the post and indicate if you want a chance at a prize by selecting yes or no. Also, double check that your name is listed in the sign up/starting line linky at this post so you will be eligible for the giveaway. You have until Friday, September 6 at 11:59 pm CDT to fill out the form. I will email the winners within a few days following the deadline so keep a look out in your email inbox (or spam folder, just in case) for an email from my truebookaddict gmail account. (Prize page is here)

Today kicks off Something Wicked Fall! If you haven't seen my post at Castle Macabre, in the Facebook group, or on Instagram (I still have to post in our Goodreads group), you can read all the details here. The highlights...a read-along of Doctor Sleep, Gothic and horror reading, movie watch-alongs! Of course, all this will go along nicely with FrightFall coming up in October. I'll have sign-ups ready for that soon. In the meantime, check out the button (will add a grab code in the sidebar shortly).

Once again, thank you for joining me and I hope to see you next time.

(If you would like others to visit your wrap-up post, please leave a comment below with the link to your wrap-up, or you can visit participants via the starting line post linky here.)

High Summer #Readathon - Mid-Event Check-In #HSreadathon

This month is flying by! Can't believe it's mid-event already (a couple days past actually). The only good thing about time flying...this hot weather will be gone, we'll be heading into fall, and FrightFall will be here. Yay!

Share your progress in the comments, or post a link to an update post.

The prize page is live here. Thanks to the authors who generously donated.

Anyone else doing Bout of Books this week? I wasn't going to, but decided to after all. I signed up via Instagram @truebookaddict and I'll probably post on Facebook (probably also in the group).

Something Wicked Fall will also be going on in September and October over at Castle Macabre. I will be hosting a read-along of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep (the movie comes out in November. Squee!), among other things. Stay tuned for details.

College freshman Lucia Ramirez has a secret crush on Dane Monroe. He’s a tall drink of water — blond, brash, and one hell of a volleyball player. ¡Híjole! Lucia hopes her volleyball scholarship to his school will make him notice her.

Too bad what’s noticeable is Dane’s obvious hatred for Lucia. Her family’s politics contradict everything he stands for. And politics are front and center in both their families. Dane’s mother is about to face Lucia’s father in the race for US President.

When Secret Service throws them together, Dane can’t deny his frustrating attraction to Lucia’s athletic curves and sweet faith in the world. Or do their differences block their match from the start?

About the author

Psychologist/author (psycho author) Jennifer Lane invites you to her world of romance, sports, and suspense! By day she’s a therapist, and by night she’s a writer. She can’t decide which is more fun.

Jen’s first psychological thriller launches in 2018: Twin Sacrifice. Psychologist Matthew Durante risks his own life to save his twin brother’s as their foster father tries to take them down.

Jen loves to create sporty heroines and hot heroes in her college sport romances. Volleyball wonder Lucia Ramirez finds her love match in Blocked despite the glaring political spotlight aimed on her family. In Aced, the second book in the Blocked series, it’s her brother Alejandro’s turn to get lucky in love. Spiked (Blocked #3) completes the series and features Lucia’s younger brother Mateo.

A swimmer and volleyball player in college, Jen writes swimming-based romances as well: Streamline, a military mystery, and the free New Adult novella Swim Recruit.

Stories of redemption interest Jen the most, especially the healing power of love. She is also the author of The Conduct Series, a romantic-suspense trilogy that includes With Good Behavior, Bad Behavior, and On Best Behavior.

Whether writing or reading, Jen loves stories that make her laugh and cry. In her spare time she enjoys exercising, attending book club, and visiting her sisters in Chicago and Hilton Head.

High Summer #Readathon - Starting line #HSreadathon

I'm late, but that's okay...let's get this party started!

There will be a few prizes. I will try to have the official prize page posted by the end of the first week. I will also post a check-in around mid-month.

Don't forget that you can participate even if you don't have a blog. Just link up with your Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (and just post your updates from whichever venue you choose) AND don't forget to interact with us in our groups on Facebook and Goodreads, and Instagram! If you have any questions about updates, etc., feel free to ask. I will be posting a mid-event check-in middle of the month, and, of course, will do my best to interact across social media.

Social media hashtag across all platforms - #HSreadathon (you can also use #Readathon).

Hope to 'see' some of you participating in Dewey's 24 Hour Reverse Readathon this weekend. I'm signed up and plan to participate, but not for the entire 24 hours, as it's my mom's birthday this weekend.

If you have any questions about how things work, check out the guidelines tab above or the sign up post, or you can always leave me a comment. This is the same linky used for sign-ups so if you do a starting line/goal post, just add your link again, but be sure to put "goal post" beside your name, i.e. Michelle/True Book Addict (goal post). Note: If you're just now signing up, you can do it here on this post. It's the same linky.

High Summer #Readathon - Sign up! #HSreadathon

Welcome to the official sign up for the High Summer Readathon! Yes, that's right. We have officially moved High Summer to August. Since Sci-Fi Summer in June is now a month long, I thought it made sense to have a month buffer between two month long readathons. I hope everyone is okay with the change. We start at 12:00 am on August 1 and end at 11:59 pm on August 31. Times are set for the central time zone so adjust your times accordingly (you can use the link to the time zone converter in the sidebar menu).

You DO NOT have to participate the entire month. Join in when you can, start in the middle, end early...whatever works best for your schedule. As with all of my readathons, it will be an event of relaxed reading during which we can personally challenge ourselves and whittle away those ever looming TBR piles/shelves/libraries. Also, Dewey's 24 Hour Reverse Readathon is coming up August 2nd through August 3rd so that will be a fun addition to our month of reading bliss.

Guidelines for the readathon can be found HERE or you can access in the sidebar menu. Any information you need about the readathon can be found there. Please do be sure to check the guidelines to make sure you're following along correctly. There are specific rules regarding signing up and wrapping up, especially in regards to the giveaway. We no longer use a wrap-up linky and we are now use a Google form for wrap-ups (since I require your wrap-up link there anyway). That way you don't have to do two steps at the end of the readathon. The wrap-up Google form will be on the wrap-up post instead of the prize page. I will have a yes/no so you can let me know if you're opting out of winning a prize. (If you want to visit people who participated, you can do so via the sign-up/starting line linky. I will have a link to it on the wrap-up post).

As is typical, I will not be hosting any mini-challenges. However, if anyone else would like to host a mini-challenge or giveaway, you are more than welcome. I am also looking for prize donations so if anyone would like to contribute, let me know. Authors, this is a great way to promote your book(s)! (Contact me using the contact form link in the sidebar menu).

Our hashtag for social media is #HSreadathon Also, don't forget about our Facebook group, our Goodreads group and our Instagram. You can also access via the links in the sidebar menu.

Sign up in the linky below. You do not have to do a post now, unless you want to help spread the word (much appreciated). If you don't have a blog, use Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Instagram, YouTube...or any social media. Having a blog is not required. Be sure to grab the button at the top of this post (there's also a grab code below the button in the sidebar).

Sci-Fi Summer #Readathon - Mid-Event Check-in (sort of) and some news

Take the Christmas in July Readathon Survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NC5RWYF  Closed

So, how is your sci-fi (fantasy) reading going? I hope all is going well. I'm halfway through Childhood's End and really enjoying it.

Share your progress, or a link to your update, in the comments. Now on to the...

I've been hearing this statement (or close to it) here and there around our social media..."This needs to be a month long event!" Well, you spoke, and I listened. Sci-Fi Summer is officially extended throughout June, and future Sci-Fi Summers will now always be month long events. Since it is now a month long, the rules will change a bit. Yes, you still need to show that you are/have been reading science fiction (or fantasy), but you can also read in other genres as well. I've updated our current button to reflect our extension to the entire month. Woot!

Now for the next bit of news. I like to have at least a month buffer between each month long readathon. Since Sci-Fi Summer is now a month long event, that would lead us straight into High Summer in July. So, I'm moving High Summer to August! It will work well for me because I'm doing Camp NaNoWriMo next month (I often participate each summer). I hope everyone is okay with the change.

Sci-Fi Summer Prizes

Winner - Tara O.
From your host
Winner's choice of any print book title from the bargain books (these are used books) section of Better World Books. They ship internationally. (priced below $5.00) OR a $5.00 Amazon eGift card. One Winner

Winners - Kai, ...
Prize from Elyse LeMieux, moderator at the 75 Books Goodreads group, and a member of our Goodreads group

(1) (2) $5 or less Amazon Kindle Books 2 Winners

Giveaway Details
This is a readathon participant only giveaway. To be eligible, you must have signed up, participated and added a link to the official readathon wrap-up post (I will give everyone until Friday, July 5th at 11:59 pm CST to complete their wrap-ups). We no longer use a linky for wrap-ups. The Google form on our wrap-up post is where you will enter your info, your wrap-up link, and answer yes/no on whether you want to win a prize or not. We have a total of 3 prizes. This means there will be 3 winners. I will award prizes on a first come, first served basis. I will draw the 3 winners with random.org and email all 3 at the same time. The first person who emails me back with their choice gets that prize. I will mark off the prizes as they are taken. Winners will be chosen after the wrap-up post deadline (see above).

High Summer #Readathon - Wrap it up! #HSreadathon

Oh my, but the months are flying by! Summer is halfway over, and it's pretty much all over for me, as my sons go back to school next Tuesday! And look at us...we have another readathon under our belts.

I hope everyone enjoyed High Summer and that you were able to get a lot of reading in. We also had our four day Christmas in July Readathon at the end. I hope those of you who read Christmas-y titles felt a little bit of the spirit, as I did. Thank you all so much for joining me for another readathon!

Remember, our process has changed for wrap-ups. No more linky for wrap-up posts. Fill out the form below and indicate if you want a chance at a prize by selecting yes or no. Also, double check that your name is listed in the sign up/starting line linky at this post so you will be eligible for the giveaway. You have until Monday, August 6 at 11:59 pm CDT to fill out the form. I will email the winners within a few days following the deadline so keep a look out in your email inbox (or spam folder, just in case) for an email from my truebookaddict gmail account. (Prize page is here)

Looking forward, of course we have the month long FrightFall Readathon in October, but I'm also working on adding some extra fun (since we do love our scary...a good bit of us anyway). Every year I host two events at my horror blog, Castle Macabre. Gothic September and Season of the Witch in October. Well, the wheels are turning and I'm trying to come up with an all encompassing event that will take Castle Macabre and Seasons of Reading through a spooky autumn. Stay tuned!

Once again, thank you for joining me and I hope to see you next time.

(If you would like others to visit your wrap-up post, please leave a comment below with the link to your wrap-up, or you can visit participants via the starting line post linky here.)

#ChristmasinJuly 4 Day #Readathon Starts Now!

It's time for our four day Christmas in July Readathon! I can't believe July has flown by so fast. Of course, I say that every month.

What are your plans? Will you read all Christmas? Will you continue on with strictly High Summer reading (which also lasts for four more days), or will you do a little of both?

I'm thinking I might squeeze in one small Christmas read, after I finish To Kill a Mockingbird. I've certainly been in a festive mood, watching Christmas movies on Hallmark and I even listened to Christmas music in the car yesterday! I've been sharing a few things over a my Christmas site, Christmas Spirit. Not as much as I wanted to, but I have four more days so will try to add a couple more Christmas-y posts. I hope you'll stop by to visit.

I hope everyone is enjoying High Summer and will enjoy the Christmas readathon as well. Happy reading, whatever you decide to read the last four days!

High Summer #Readathon - Mid Event Check-in #HSreadathon

I'm a few days late with this check-in post. Sorry! My month has not gone as planned, and my summer is pretty much over now that my younger (15 year old) son has a job and my older son has football practice every day. I'm now a glorified taxi driver and school hasn't even started yet. Not long to go though. They go back August 7th.

How is your reading going? I hope you're picking up some books that you're really enjoying. Seems like there are a lot of  other exciting readathons going on this month too. There's the 24in48 Readathon this weekend, July 21 and 22. Then there's the Dewey's 24 Hour Reverse Summer Readathon starting Friday, July 27 at 8 pm ET and ending Saturday, July 28 at 8 pm ET. Fun! Will you be joining in on either of these?

Don't forget about our Christmas in July Readathon at the end of High Summer, during the last four days (Saturday thru Tuesday, July 28-31). Just a reminder...you do not have to participate if you're not IN to Christmas, but if you are, this is for you.

In case you missed it, the High Summer prize page is here.

Let us know how you're progressing with High Summer. Leave a comment and/or leave a link to an update post if you like.

Let's keep going! Happy Reading!

High Summer #Readathon - Let's Go! #HSreadathon

I hope everyone is ready for our month long event of relaxing summer reading, with a little bit of Christmas in July mixed in! (P.S. If you love Christmas, I'm hosting a month long Christmas in July event at my Christmas blog, Christmas Spirit. I hope you'll stop by!)

I have a few prizes lined up and I'll have the prize page posted by the end of the first week. I'm thinking of eliminating the wrap-up linky and just using the Google form for wrap-ups (since I require the wrap-up link there anyway). That way you won't have to do two steps at the end of the readathon. So, that means the wrap-up Google form will be on the wrap-up post instead of the prize page. I will have a yes/no so you can let me know if you're opting out of winning a prize.

Don't forget, during the last four days (Saturday thru Tuesday, July 28-31) of the readathon, we are having a Christmas in July Readathon! Don't worry...you do not have to participate if you're not IN to Christmas, but if you are, this is for you. Also, you can even choose to read Christmas books during the entire High Summer Readathon. I'm flexible!

If you have any questions about how things work, check out the guidelines in the sidebar menu or the sign up post, or you can always leave me a comment (or send me a message via the contact form). The linky below is the same one as the sign up linky. If you do a starting line/goal post, just add your link again, but be sure to put "goal post" beside your name, i.e. Michelle/The True Book Addict (goal post).

I will post a mid-event check in post at the halfway point. Our hashtag for the readathon is #HSreadathon  Don't forget about our Facebook group and we now have a Goodreads group!

Here we go! Happy Reading!

High Summer #Readathon - Sign up! #HSreadathon

High Summer is almost here...less than two weeks to go! This will be our first year as a month long event. Last year, I decided to make all the seasonal 'thons a month long and everyone is loving it, including me. As I mentioned in the SciFi Summer wrap-up post, I will once again be hosting a special Christmas in July Readathon (in conjunction with the Christmas in July event at my Christmas blog) during the last four days of High Summer. So, July 28 - 31! Participation in that will be entirely voluntary and if you decide you would like to, you still don't have to do the whole four days. I'm completely flexible. Also, you can even choose to read Christmas books during the entire High Summer Readathon, or mix and match. It's up to you.

The official dates are July 1 through July 31, starting at 12:00 am Sunday the 1st, and ending at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, the 31st. That's central time (U.S.), but you can adjust your times according to your time zone (there's a time zone converter in the sidebar menu). Of course, like most readathons, the books read must be novels or novellas (adult or young adult are fine), manga, anthologies, non-fiction, and you can even read children's books (as long as you do read some novels too). Also, Christmas books this time too! You DO NOT have to participate the entire month. Join in when you can, start in the middle, end early...whatever works best for your schedule. As with all of my readathons, it will be an event of relaxed reading during which we can personally challenge ourselves and whittle away our ever looming TBRs.

Guidelines for the readathon can be found HERE or you can access in the sidebar menu. Any information regarding rules for our readathons can be found there. Please do be sure to check the guidelines to make sure you're following along correctly. There are specific rules regarding signing up and wrapping up, especially in regards to the giveaway. Also, regarding the giveaway, I'll be again adding a Google form to capture names, email addresses and a link to your wrap-up posts so if you're interested in winning a prize (and you've met the sign up and wrap up criteria), I will ask you to fill in that form which will be located on the prize page.

I will not be hosting any mini-challenges. However, if anyone else would like to host a mini-challenge or giveaway, you are more than welcome. I am also looking for prize donations so if anyone would like to contribute, let me know. Authors, this is a great way to promote your book! (Contact me via the contact tab in the menu).

Our hashtag for social media is #HSreadathon ...and we have our wonderful Facebook group that is always very lively (there is also an access tab in the menu).

Sign up in the linky below. You do not have to do a post now, unless you want to help spread the word (much appreciated). If you don't have a blog, use Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Instagram, YouTube. Having a blog is not required. Be sure to grab the button at the top of this post (there's also a grab code below the button in the sidebar. Note: the grab code is only for the High Summer button, not for the Christmas in July button).
