DeleteNever too late!
Well, I finished one book but my reading has really stalled. Time to stop doing housework and get reading!
ReplyDeleteI am reading The Last Woman Standing by Thelma Adams. It is the story of Josephine, (also known as Sadie), who came to Tombstone, Arizona to marry John Behan but later fell in love with Wyatt Earl and took his last name alleging they had married,(there has been no proof found so this is disputed). The story, (which is fictional), is told with Josephine's voice. My parents have a home in Sierra Vista, Arizona and I love visiting Tombstone. I have been captivated by the love triangle since I first visited the Birdcage Theater. It is difficult to find accurate telling of what really happened in Josephine's life as she often lied and covered up her past. The book has her age at 19 but in reality she was 14, (John Behan was around 36 and married already). So far, I think the author is doing a fairly good job telling the story much as Josephine would have. For me, since it is a fictional account, she could have made the story more exciting. As it is though, I think Josephine would have been happy as it paints her in very good light. I am enjoying it. Perhaps, because I know the history and have pictures I took in Tombstone, I find it easy to fall into belief state.
ReplyDeleteSpell check changed the name of Wyatt Earp. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteI have finished Hollow City by Ransom Riggs and I only have 50 pgs left of The Ocean At The End Of The Lane by Neil Geiman. (sry I'm a bit late posting this)
ReplyDeleteDang! I forgot to check-in during the midweek. Woops!
ReplyDeleteRead 11 (one a children's).
