FrightFall Readathon - Sign up!

It's that time of year again! I can hardly believe a year has passed. Last year, I had just moved into my new house here in Michigan and was still unpacking and shelving books when I posted the sign up. We're all settled now and I have more time to read (except for the Halloween decorating which will be commencing next week). 🎃 I hope you guys are ready for some scary reading!

We start at 12:00 am eastern time on October 1st and end at 11:59 pm eastern time on October 31st. (There is a handy link to a time zone converter in the sidebar menu.) I hope you're ready to get your scary on! Guidelines for the readathon can be found HERE or you can access in the sidebar menu. Any information you need about the readathon can be found there. Please do be sure to check the guidelines to make sure you're following along correctly. There are specific rules regarding sign up and wrap up, especially in regards to the giveaway.

The one main "rule" of FrightFall is that you must read at least ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). I hope you will indulge the scary beyond the one book, but that is entirely up to you. It is all about the reading after all.

Reminder: I have eliminated the wrap-up linky and we are now just using the Google form for wrap-ups (since I require your wrap-up link there anyway). That way you don't have to do two steps at the end of the readathon. The wrap-up Google form will be on the wrap-up post. I will have a yes/no so you can let me know if you're opting out of winning a prize. (If you want to visit people who participated, you can do so via the sign-up/starting line linky. I will have a link to it on the wrap-up post).

Our social media hashtag is #FrightFall We have our outstanding Facebook group and we now have a Facebook Page, and don't forget our Goodreads group and our Instagram. (There are also access tabs in the sidebar menu.)

Three orders of business...
  • I am looking for prize donations so if anyone would like to contribute, let me know. Authors, this is a great way to promote your book! Contact me via the contact form in the menu. If you know of an author who might be interested, pass along a message. Thanks!
  • Every readathon, I offer a charity donation prize (to a social justice charity) to one winner. This prize is awarded at the beginning of the readathon. Details on how it works are on the guidelines page. I will also be offering another small prize, and this time I have two horror novels to give away (U.S. only winners on those). I will post the prize page during the first week of the event.
  • I have created a Discord server for Seasons of Reading...sort of an experiment away from Slack, which I feel is too business-y for our purposes. You can pop in and chat during our events at any time, or even outside of events. We will also chat there during our horror movie watch-alongs (more on that below). We will not be doing live chats, just typing in the text channels. I will create a FrightFall channel as well. Here's the invite link: https://discord.gg/e6uAmXtGqA

For the past three years, FrightFall has officially been a part of Something Wicked Fall, which runs September/October over at my horror blog, Castle Macabre. It's our fourth year!!! We are doing a read-along of The Blood Countess by Andrei Codrescu through the end of October. We started September 1st so there's still time to join in. I posted the first discussion on Monday here.
We are also going to be having a couple of horror movie watch-alongs. Our first one will be Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) on September 24 or 25 (Friday or Saturday) around 9:00 pm eastern time. It's available on Hulu, if you're a subscriber, or on Pluto TV, which is a free streaming service. Be sure to leave a comment, either here, or over at Castle Macabre on what night would be better for you.

Get all the details for what's going on during Something Wicked Fall here.

Any questions at all? Leave me a comment, or send me a message via the contact me link in the sidebar menu.

High Summer Readathon - At an end

I hope everyone enjoyed High Summer and that you were able to get a lot of reading in. Thank you all so much for joining me for another readathon!

To wrap up, go to the link for the wrap-up form at the end of this post and fill it out, including a link to your wrap-up (whether it's a blog post, a Goodreads shelf, social media status...anything goes, as long as I can see you did indeed participate). You will also indicate if you want a chance at a prize by selecting yes or no in the form. Be sure to double check that your name is listed in the sign up/starting line linky at this post so you will be eligible for the giveaway. You have until Monday, September 6 at 11:59 pm EDT to fill out the form. I will email the winners within a few days following the deadline so keep a look out in your email inbox (or spam folder, just in case) for an email from my truebookaddict gmail account. The prize is listed here on the mid-event check-in page

September 1st kicks off Something Wicked Fall! If you haven't seen my post at Castle Macabre, in the Facebook group, or on Instagram (I still have to post in our Goodreads group), you can read all the details here. The highlights...a read-along of Andrei Condrescu's The Blood Countess, Gothic and horror reading, movie watch-alongs! Of course, all this will go along nicely with FrightFall coming up in October. I'll have sign-ups ready for that soon. In the meantime, check out the readathon button below (will add a grab code in the sidebar shortly).

That's it! Thanks again for joining in on another readathon!
