High Summer #Readathon - Sign up! #HSreadathon

Welcome to the official sign up for the High Summer Readathon! Yes, that's right. We have officially moved High Summer to August. Since Sci-Fi Summer in June is now a month long, I thought it made sense to have a month buffer between two month long readathons. I hope everyone is okay with the change. We start at 12:00 am on August 1 and end at 11:59 pm on August 31. Times are set for the central time zone so adjust your times accordingly (you can use the link to the time zone converter in the sidebar menu).

You DO NOT have to participate the entire month. Join in when you can, start in the middle, end early...whatever works best for your schedule. As with all of my readathons, it will be an event of relaxed reading during which we can personally challenge ourselves and whittle away those ever looming TBR piles/shelves/libraries. Also, Dewey's 24 Hour Reverse Readathon is coming up August 2nd through August 3rd so that will be a fun addition to our month of reading bliss.

Guidelines for the readathon can be found HERE or you can access in the sidebar menu. Any information you need about the readathon can be found there. Please do be sure to check the guidelines to make sure you're following along correctly. There are specific rules regarding signing up and wrapping up, especially in regards to the giveaway. We no longer use a wrap-up linky and we are now use a Google form for wrap-ups (since I require your wrap-up link there anyway). That way you don't have to do two steps at the end of the readathon. The wrap-up Google form will be on the wrap-up post instead of the prize page. I will have a yes/no so you can let me know if you're opting out of winning a prize. (If you want to visit people who participated, you can do so via the sign-up/starting line linky. I will have a link to it on the wrap-up post).

As is typical, I will not be hosting any mini-challenges. However, if anyone else would like to host a mini-challenge or giveaway, you are more than welcome. I am also looking for prize donations so if anyone would like to contribute, let me know. Authors, this is a great way to promote your book(s)! (Contact me using the contact form link in the sidebar menu).

Well, this four day readathon went by as fast as this year is going! I hope you enjoyed your Christmas reading, or whatever you decided to read. I have not finished 12 Days at Bleakly Manor, but it's still Christmas in July so I'm going to keep reading. Intriguing so far. Not overly Christmas-y though.

It's time for the four day Christmas in July Readathon, today through Monday July 15 (today at 12:00 am through Monday 11:59 pm Central Time).

Are you ready? Are you sticking with strictly Christmas reading, or are you going to mix it up?

This is a short and sweet starting line post. I'm not going to have a wrap up form for this short readathon. Instead, we will just use the same linky we used for sign up, starting line, and wrap up. Sci-Fi Summer #Readathon Wrap-Up #SciFiJune

Well, I extended Sci-Fi Summer to a month long event and I think it was a success. How about you? I was able to read three science fiction books, Parable of the Sower, Childhood's End, and The Gone World (audio), as well as a horror novel, the excellent The Dark Game by Jonathan Janz (highly recommend). I'm also almost finished with Atwood's Oryx and Crake (it's almost 400 pages). Not too bad. How did the reading go for you?

People were asking if we were still going to have a Christmas in July readathon so I set up a poll and the consensus was a 4-day weekend readathon, mid-month. The official dates are July 12-15. I've been hearing this statement (or close to it) here and there around our social media..."This needs to be a month long event!" Well, you spoke, and I listened. Sci-Fi Summer is officially extended throughout June, and future Sci-Fi Summers will now always be month long events. Since it is now a month long, the rules will change a bit. Yes, you still need to show that you are/have been reading science fiction (or fantasy), but you can also read in other genres as well. I've updated our current button to reflect our extension to the entire month. Woot!

Now for the next bit of news. I like to have at least a month buffer between each month long readathon. Since Sci-Fi Summer is now a month long event, that would lead us straight into High Summer in July. So, I'm moving High Summer to August! It will work well for me because I'm doing Camp NaNoWriMo next month (I often participate each summer). I hope everyone is okay with the change.

This is a readathon participant only giveaway. To be eligible, you must have signed up, participated and added a link to the official readathon wrap-up post (I will give everyone until Friday, July 5th at 11:59 pm CST to complete their wrap-ups). We no longer use a linky for wrap-ups. The Google form on our wrap-up post is where you will enter your info, your wrap-up link, and answer yes/no on whether you want to win a prize or not. We have a total of 3 prizes. This means there will be 3 winners. I will award prizes on a first come, first served basis. I will draw the 3 winners with random.org and email all 3 at the same time. Just link up with your Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (and just post your updates from whichever venue you choose) AND don't forget to interact with us in our groups on Facebook and Goodreads, and Instagram! If you have any questions about updates, etc., feel free to ask. I will be posting a mid-event check-in here, and I will do my best to interact across social media.

I have not received any prize donations, but I will be offering a small prize. Because of this, I will not be posting a prize page this time around. I will post my prize offering on the mid-event check-in post.
