Spring into Horror Readathon - Mid-Event Check-In #SpringHorror

A couple days past the halfway point. Sorry!

How is it going with the reading? Reading anything deliciously scary? Let me know your progress in the comments, or leave a link.

If anyone wants to chat in real time, remember our Slack group. There's a Spring into Horror channel (channels are in the left sidebar). Here's the invite link again (Slack is free...don't worry): https://join.slack.com/t/seasonsofreading/shared_invite/zt-ok63sxb8-FSjhen3BEWXBg8dynApS5Q

Anyone else doing Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon this Saturday? I am clearing my schedule completely and planning on doing the entire 24 hours. If you are planning to participate, I'll be popping in and out of our Slack channel (Spring into Horror channel) so feel free to stop by and chat.

In case you missed it, Katherine Nabity was the winner of the charity prize. We have a couple more prizes to be awarded after the end of the readathon. The prize page is here.

Hope everyone is enjoying their scary (or not) reading! Happy reading!

This is the giveaway/prize promotion page for the prizes being given away for readathon participants. At the end of this post, you will find details regarding how the prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the readathon.

Note: The author of the book donated would greatly appreciate a review, if you win, on your blog and/or social media and/or on Goodreads, Amazon. Thank you! (This is not required to win.)

The winner of the charity giveaway was Katherine Nabity. She has been emailed. Congrats!

Make Pretend: The Complete Short Fiction of Armand Rosamilia Volume 1
One Winner of a Signed Print copy - US only

Make Pretend is the first book in a series collecting all of Armand Rosamilia's short fiction.

Twenty-one tales ranging from horror to crime thriller to science fiction, contemporary fiction to fantasy and more. From stories a few days ago to one forty years old.

Some stories you might've read in previous collections or anthologies. Maybe on the author's Patreon. Many more never before read. Written for this and the future collections.

Make pretend these stories aren't real, aren't fact, and aren't exposing the best and worst of humanity...

With a foreword by esteemed author Tim Meyer

Available for purchase on Amazon

Armand Rosamilia is a New Jersey boy currently living in sunny Florida, where he writes when he's not sleeping. He's happily married to a woman who helps his career and is supportive, which is all he ever wanted in life...

He's written over 150 stories that are currently available, including horror, zombies, contemporary fiction, thrillers and more. His goal is to write a good story and not worry about genre labels.

He not only runs two successful podcasts...

Arm Cast Podcast - interviewing fellow authors as well as filmmakers, musicians, etc.

The Mando Method Podcast with co-host Chuck Buda - talking about writing and publishing

But he owns the network they're on, too! Project Entertainment Network

He also loves to talk in third person... because he's really that cool.

You can find him at armandrosamilia.com for not only his latest releases but interviews and guest posts with other authors he likes!

Giveaway Details
This is a readathon participant only giveaway. To be eligible, you must have signed up, participated and added a link to the official readathon wrap-up post (I will give everyone until Friday, May 7th at 11:59 pm EDT to complete their wrap-ups). We no longer use a linky for wrap-ups. There will be a Google form on the readathon wrap-up post where you will enter your info, your wrap-up link, and answer yes/no on whether you want to win a prize or not. We have a total of 2 prizes. This means there will be 2 winners. I will award prizes on a first come, first served basis. I will draw the 2 winners with random.org and email all 2 at the same time. The first person who emails me back with their choice gets that prize. I will mark off the prizes as they are taken. Winners will be chosen after the wrap-up post deadline (see above).

Spring into Horror #Readathon - Time to start...let's read! #SpringHorror

Let's get this party started, shall we? Just one quick note. Someone had asked it there was a group chat, which we do have our Facebook group, and our Goodreads group, but not everyone may be on those platforms. However, we do have our Slack group for when we have movie watch-alongs so I thought...why not have this option open for every readathon? Then anyone can chat together whenever they want. Slack is free so all you have to do is visit this link (https://join.slack.com/t/seasonsofreading/shared_invite/zt-ok63sxb8-FSjhen3BEWXBg8dynApS5Q), sign up on Slack, and you're in. Just be sure to join the Spring-into-Horror channel. You can see it in the left sidebar in the Slack group.

Just remember...the one main "rule" of Spring into Horror is that you must read at least ONE scary book (which can be a thriller, mystery, Gothic novel, or similar for those who are faint of heart). Since we are doing a month long, I hope you will indulge the scary a bit more, but that is entirely up to you. It is all about the reading after all. After you've read your "scary" title (or before...you don't have to read the scary one first), you can read whatever you want in any genre. Novels, novellas, comic books, children's books, non-fiction. Anything goes!

You DO NOT have to participate the entire month. Join in when you can, start in the middle, end early...whatever works best for your schedule. As with all of my readathons, it will be an event of relaxed reading during which we can personally challenge ourselves and whittle away those ever looming TBR piles/shelves/libraries. Also, Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon (April 24) will be going on so that will be a fun addition to our month of reading bliss.

Guidelines for the readathon can be found HERE or you can access in the sidebar menu. Any information you need about the readathon can be found there. Please do be sure to check the guidelines to make sure you're following along correctly. There are specific rules regarding signing up and wrapping up, especially in regards to the giveaway. We no longer use a wrap-up linky and we are now just using the Google form for wrap-ups (since I require your wrap-up link there anyway). That way you don't have to do two steps at the end of the readathon. The wrap-up Google form will be on the wrap-up post instead of the prize page. I will have a yes/no so you can let me know if you're opting out of winning a prize. (If you want to visit people who participated, you can do so via the sign-up/starting line linky. I will have a link to it on the wrap-up post).

>>>>IMPORTANT...PRIZE INFORMATION...IMPORTANT<<<<
New for this readathon and going forward for every event - The charity donation prize will be awarded at the beginning of the readathon. How that will work is anyone who signs up in the linky AND leaves a comment on the STARTING LINE post (post will be live at midnight on April 1) will be entered in the draw for the charity prize. Be sure to leave your email address with your comment in order to be entered. I need to be able to contact you if you win. Prize details are....

I will make a $15 donation to the winner's choice of a social justice organization, such as the ACLU, Boys and Girls Club, Human Rights Campaign, GLAAD, Amnesty International, It Gets Better, Planned Parenthood, or another social justice organization of your choice (food banks, homeless shelters, animal rights/rescue/shelters would also apply), perhaps your local chapter or a local organization. This giveaway is open internationally. Note: I will not donate to any organization that does not believe all are equal, regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation.

I hope you will consider having your donation made to one of these organizations fighting on the front lines of the Black Lives Matter movement (click each link to learn more).

Unicorn Riot
NAACP Legal Defense Fund
Campaign Zero
Movement for Black Lives
BYP100
TGI Justice Project
Audre Lorde Project
Metro Atlanta Mutual Aid Fund
National Bail Fund Network
The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights

Note: No one chose the charity donation for Winter's Respite so the amount will be $30 this time.

I will have a couple more prizes, unless I receive more donations. Prize page will be posted by the end of the first week.

Our hashtag for social media is #SpringHorror Also, don't forget about our Facebook group, Facebook page, our Goodreads group and our Instagram. You can also access via the links in the sidebar menu.
